Today we went out to Culver City to make use of the community shred day (got rid of 4 bankers boxes of paperwork that needed shredding!). Since we were in the neighborhood and hungry, we decided to give Plan Check a try. Anna had been there before and chowhound and yelp rave about their fried chicken. I was game.

White rascal with beer nuts for Anna. The nuts are sweet, salty with a hint of wasabi.  I had the Yuzu soda which was a little too sweet for my taste, but that didn’t stop me from drinking it 🙂

PCB – Plan Check Burger – Our new favorite burger in LA.  It was really damned good.  Anna and I both agreed it was the best thing we ate here today.

Pastrami Gravy Fries – This was a daily special.  Peppery pastrami, a little spice to the gravy,  beef tallow fried potatoes and some pickles.   Highly recommend this if it’s on the menu.

Smokey Fried Chicken – You have to look for the smoke, but it is there.  The pickled okra adds a nice bit of acid to the dish.  I still wish it had been bone in, but it was juicy and really tasty.

Crullers – fried dough, bananas, vanilla pudding, whipped cream.  They are light and airy – tasted a lot like a banana pudding mixed with a churro.

The waitress was good, except for forgetting our water order, twice. We sat out on the patio which was really nice today.

Other things of note: outdoor dining is dog friendly – they have water bowls for your pups even. 3-6pm is the happy hour, free nuts if you check in on FB (possibly on other services as well).
